Editor's note:

This must be the week of Gopalganj as PatnaDaily.Com received four letters from Gopalganj, a very positive and encouraging sign for the entire state of Bihar.

The first letter was sent by Ashwini Kumar Singh, a college student in Haryana, an young man full of ideas. Whether he succeeds in fulfilling his dreams come true or not, the fact that he is thinking about his state and its development, particularly in the field of education, confirms our belief that the future of Bihar is quite bright in spite of all the current negative forces that are constantly trying to pull the state in the opposite direction. His letter would soon be added on the Readers' Write section within next few days.

In a separate letter addressed to his former English teacher, Mr. Singh writes:

[Kindly forward this correspondence to Prof. A. K. Pandey; Director, English Institute, Gopalganj]

Dear Sir,

English Institute, Gopalganj, Bihar.

I am an ex-student of your esteemed institution. For last two years I have not been able to meet you. Now I am an engineering student majoring in electronics & communication engineering from M. D. University, Rohtak, Haryana. I am really thankful to you for giving me such good tips in English language and giving me moral support. It is difficult to find an easily and greatly understandable person like you in a place like Gopalganj. I want to give you my congratulations on the grand success of your son Mr. Arun Kumar Pandey, who is now a cadet of National Defence Academy, Pune. Only you were the major source of his success.

I would like to be associated with the Institution, if you could please let me know if you have an ex-student or Alumni Association or any other thing of such sort. Please guide me regularly, as I assume you my moral guardian.

My e-mail address is kumar_aks09@rediffmail.com. My postal address is Room No. 7, Jr. Boys Hostel; DAV College of Engineering & Technology, Kanina, Dist.- Mohindergarh, Haryana-123027

Thanking you,
Ashwini Kumar Singh

Well, here you go Mr. Singh. Your letter is published right here for your friends and teachers to see. We wish you nothing but the best and success in your life and goals.

Next letter comes from none other than Mr. Awadh Kishore Pandey, Ph. D. Lecturer & HOD, English Dept. of Gopalganj College himself. What are the odds of receiving the letters of the teacher and the student on the same day?

Mr. Pandey writes:

I was pleased to see PatnaDaily.Com which is very useful to all the persons of the great land of Bihar residing in different parts of India and abroad. Please try to add some more useful educational matters in a way to provide benefit to all young students. I really appreciate the contribution made by young talents of Bihar.

Thank you for your feedback, Mr. Pandey. And we also congratulate you for doing an excellent job of teaching as is evident from the letter of your ex-pupil Mr. Ashwini Kumar Singh. Bihar can certainly use more teachers like you who not only do their job in the best possible manner within the limited means they have been provided but also set an example for their students to be the best in whatever area they choose to make their career in. We wish you all the best. If there was a contest and recognition for the best teacher in Bihar, we're sure you would give other teachers in the state a run for their money.

Come to think of it, why not have students of various schools and colleges in Bihar send us their nomination for their favorite teacher/lecturer/professor who inspired them the most? Hmmm... now that's an idea worth exploring...!

We received a letter from Mr. Punit Kumar Dubey of Munrika, New Delhi, who writes:

Thanks for your efforts towards making the city of Patna globalised. My request to the team of PatnaDaily.Com is to please add some useful information from other districts as well. Please add some photographs of Gopalganj College. My best wishes to all the readers.

Thank you, Mr. Dubey. We are always striving to improve PatnaDaily.Com and your suggestion has been noted by us. Please continue to visit the site on a regular basis to see new changes.

Another letter from Gopalganj is from Arti Singh. Read below. Thank you Arti for writing to us.

Editor, PatnaDaily.Com

Km. Arti Singh, Gopalganj, Bihar

Accept my congrats for bringing out such a nice and updated website on Patna. It has presented a beautiful picture of my native place. I wish you all best wishes for the years to come.

Sumit Kumar, M. Tech. (Cryogenic Engineering), B-313, LLR Hall, IIT Kharagpur

I bumped into this site accidentally and I must congratulate your team for the excellent website that you have.

I was born in Patna and live abroad now, but it's heartening to see a website exclusively on Patna. I hope you guys can bring about some social changes that are so badly needed in the state of Bihar. Great move, wish you all the very best.

I am delighted to see PatnaDaily. Presently I am in Delhi in a software development company. This is a very good effort to bring all that's happening in Bihar, particularly Patna, to the cyber world. I hope you would continue with your good work. Please try to revive the discussion board so that Patna'ites can have a platform to air their opinion.

Ashish Kumar Sinha, New Delhi

I am looking for a colleague with the name Marie MacDonald. Do you think you can pass on my email address to her. I think she is working at the Convent as a Teacher.

Thank you for this web site. Your photo gallery does take me down memory lane. I now live in the UK (London).

Renu Kaul, UK

I am regular visitor of this site from last two years. I am studying engineering in Bangalore. I live on Exhibition road, Patna and must congratulate people associated with this site for maintaining such a good quality & positive image of Patna.

Ripu Ranjan

Well done! Superb effort , we need sites like this to highlight Bihar throught the world.

Dr. Rajay Narain, Manchester

Your site provides an invaluable service to Biharis overseas. It helps us in keeping in touch with our city and brings into focus the 'political reality' threatening our State.

In this regard, I may add, many Biharis in India and abroad have great achievement to their credit. Perhaps, you would like to recognize these individuals and take pride to be associated with this great state and capital of ours.

Dr. Batu K. Dutt, 1438 Mill St., North Vancouver, BC, Canada

Would you please publish something on the erstwhile "Jalan Palce/Museum?" Had been there 40 years back, and wanted to visit it this Dec. Was impossible to go in. The doorkeeper couldn't say much. Also, a few pictures of this well-kept secret gem of Patna would really help.

Sumana Sen-Bagchee

PatnaDaily.Com continues to lead all other sites when it comes to the latest and best. I must have told at least 45 50 families in US about this site.

Ajay Sinha, USA

It was lovely to find this site. Great! I am a journalist working for a leading newsmagazine in Delhi. I was born and brought up in Patna. My father taught at the Bihar College of Engineering (BCE). I studied from Class 3 to 12 at St Michael's High School. My two sisters studied till class 10 at St Joseph's High School. I resided for about 20 years in a BCE quarter on the banks of the Ganges. The Gandhi Ghat and our house had a common fence. You can't imagine the emotions I felt when I saw the pictures of Gandhi Ghat, the BCE and Science College.

The pictures (I saw all the pictures on the site) were very good. It was as if I was breathing the air of Patna, hearing the Patna breeze and getting soaked in the Patna sunshine. Great. I have one suggestion. Keep pictures of the city on your site but add more pictures of the Ganges as seen from Patna. You can add pictures of the bank on the northern side of the river.

Keep up the good work! Your whole team seems to have a tremendous feeling for Patna. I could sense it.

Amit Shekhar, Delhi
