Sir,
Re: News about the Diwali
Celebration in California.
While I appreciate your attempt to
make your newspaper portal more
diverse in gathering and presenting
news from USA too, I must say this
is not what we would like to see at
this esteemed site.
We, in the USA, would be more
interested to know what is happening
in and around Patna, Muzaffarpur or
Gaya (in Bihar) rather than knowing
what's happening in California. I
think this site is more read/visited
by NRIs than our fellows in India.
People in Patna have more newspapers
available to them but we have
limited choice in that and
PatnaDaily.Com serves an excellent
purpose of giving us a day to day
life in Patna or Bihar, our beloved
home.
I wish to see news about Patna and
people there on PatnaDaily.Com which
gives me a sense of being always
connected to my own place of Bihar
and also India.

Editor's Note: Thanks for
your nice comment, Mr. Ranjan. Our
98% percent of coverage involves
Patna and other parts of Bihar
(mostly Patna, we admit) but once in
a while Biharis outside Bihar
(non-resident Biharis, or NRBs) do
certain things or achieve certain
accolades that demand coverage as
well. It is rather ironical that
while some people like yourself
don't prefer to see how Biharis
abroad are struggling to maintain
their identity and promote their
culture in a foreign land, they
continue to suggest us to have a
section for Bihari achievers (mostly
NRBs) on PatnaDaily.Com. We see a
little dichotomy here among the NRBs.
In our humble opinion, someone in
the US being able to observe Chhath
is a big deal. While almost every
Indian in other countries celebrates
Dussehra, Diwali, Holi, and Eid on a
regular basis, celebrating Chhath,
because of its regional nature and
extremely tough observation rules,
certainly makes it worthy of
coverage.
As for the recent coverage of Diwali
celebration in California by AODB,
though usually we do not cover these
events because just about every city
and college campus in the US
celebrates Diwali and Holi, this
particular organization is directly
involved in doing some very
outstanding charity works in the
remote areas of Bihar. This is what
makes it special and a little media
coverage can go a long way in
promoting these organizations.
In any case, as mentioned before,
nearly 98% of the reporting on
PatnaDaily.Com involves news from
Patna and Bihar and that's not a bad
percentage to satisfy people like
yourself.
Thanks for visiting PatnaDaily.Com.
We are always striving for the best
and we want you to know that we are
always working towards that goal. We
get a number of suggestions from our
readers. Sometimes we implement
them; sometimes don't because of a
number of reasons known only to us.
So just stay with us. As long as we
have your support, PatnaDaily.Com
will continue to thrive and improve.

It is
very nice to see that you celebrated
Diwali and Chhath with great pomp
and show.I do not agree with Mr.
Ranjan's comment that Biharis in
India would not like to see your
celebrations. It give us happiness
and in celebrations, we see a
concern and seriousness of our
culture. We all will have to
contribute to make it better
represented. We will post news and
whatever photos possible to give
variety and draw attention of our
brethren NRBs. -
