BJP has no Moral Right to Celebrate Life of Former CM; Says JD-U Leader

Patna: Janata Dal – U legislator and spokesperson Sanjay Singh, on Thursday once again staked claim on past leaders this time declaring ownership of late Karpoori Thakur saying the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should be ashamed of celebrating the socialist leader's birth anniversary when it was the Janata Party in 1979 that brought down Thakur's government in Bihar.

"BJP leaders are celebrating the birth anniversary of Thakur and shedding crocodile tears on his legacy. These are the same people who betrayed the ideas of Thakur but now are acting as if they had admired the leadership of the former Chief Minister," Singh, who has emerged as the chief attack hound in the current Nitish administration, said.

Mocking former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for trying to be a longtime Karpoori disciple, Singh said that if the BJP really cared so much about the socialist leader, it should convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna award to the former Chief Minister of Bihar.

Continuing to take shot at Sushil Kumar Modi, the JD-U leader said that the former Deputy Chief Minister was addicted to being in power and was squirming like a fish out of water since the NDA was routed in the last Assembly polls.

Pulling the caste card, Singh said that Sushil Kumar Modi's love for backwards and extreme backward class was not real and was a poor attempt to pander for their votes.

"If he loves the extreme backwards then he should perhaps resign from the post of the leader of the opposition in the state legislative council and replace himself with an extreme backward leader," the JD-U leader said.
