Patna: Having enough of the nonsense being spewed by two of its legislators who had embarrassed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar one too many time, Janata Dal - U on Tuesday suspended two of its party legislators for continuing to make controversial statements certain to hurt the image of the party.
Party state President Vashisht Narayan Singh, at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, announced the suspension of Gopalpur MLA Neeraj Kumar Mandal and party MLC Rana Gangeshwar.
Mandal, a noted gangster who has managed to avoid prison thanks to his connection with people at high places, on Sunday had said in Bhagalpur that just as he did before he became a legislator, he would continue to do the 'politics of murder' to exert his influence in the state politics.
"Pahle bhi hatya karta tha, ab bhi karoonga (I used to commit murders in the past and I will continue to do so in the future)," he had said.
The JD-U leader who had earlier threatened to 'cut the tongue' of his detractors, while criticizing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his decision to impose prohibition in Bihar from April 1, said that it was a stupid idea as 'even the Gods' enjoyed wine and women in the heaven.
"They cannot stop me from drinking. If they did, I would switch ganja and bhang," Mandal had reportedly said.
Rana, on the other hand, was suspended after he berated India's national anthem saying it appeared like a 'slave song designed to please the British".
"Both Mandal and Rana have been suspended for making statements that are not in line with the party philosophy. They have also been issued show-cause notice to explain their highly controversial statements," the JD-U state President said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
