Patna: Prayers of the fans of the Indian cricket team in Patna on Sunday were answered when the Indian team, in a thrilling ending, beat Australia by six wickets scoring 161 for 4 against 160 for 6 by the Aussies in the World T20 quarterfinals played at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

This was India's sixth consecutive win over Australia that secured its place in the semi-finals to be played on March 31 against West Indies at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Appearing to be a daunting task, India lost some early wickets to give a real scare to the fans. Things, however, changed when MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli brought up their 50-run stand off just 26 balls. After that, it was easy sail for the Indian team when it scored an unbelievable 59 in the last 4.1 overs to walk away with the victory to move on to the semi-finals.

In earlier matches, India lost to New Zealand by 47 runs only to bounce back in the next two matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh beating the latter by only one run to remain alive in the tournament.
