Patna: Dozens of members of the All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA) in Patna on Thursday took out a rally and protested outside the state Assembly demanding the expulsion of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator and alleged rapist Raj Ballabh Yadav from Bihar Assembly.

Starting their rally from the Gardanibagh Gate Library, women carrying anti-Yadav banners and placards first marched to the Governor's mansion but in the last minute made a turn towards the state Assembly where they managed to enter the premises in the absence of any security guards.

However, once the security realized the breach, the protestors were chased away outside the Assembly premises.

Demanding expulsion of Yadav from the Assembly, the women accused the government of trying to protect the RJD leader and sought speedy trial to bring the alleged rapist to justice.

As reported, Yadav was charged in the rape of a 15-year old girl in Nalanda district. After the victim identified him as her rapist, the RJD legislator went underground and surrendered before the police only after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was put under tremendous pressure by a host of women's groups.

Yadav hit the headline a few weeks ago once again when news of him holding lavish party in the prison leaked out in the media.
