Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former film star Shatrughan Sinha returned to the stage last Friday night to reprise his role in the critically-acclaimed "Pati, Patni Aur Main" play that was performed live before Janata Dal – U leader and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Yadav's son and Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav.

Sinha, who remains a close friend of Kumar despite being in the opposition party, appeared completely at ease in his role throughout the 2-hour long play before a very supporting audience.

Interestingly, not a single BJP leader was present in the audience to see their own Member of Parliament once again trying to earn the accolades of his fans through his matured acting skills.

The presence of Kumar, however, did not deter the writer of the play to take a dig at the state's much-maligned prohibition policy that puts alcohol consumers much below rapists, murderers, or kidnappers on the social evolutionary chart.

In a scene, actor Rakesh Bedi refuses to accept a glass of beer offered by Sinha saying he does not want to jail nor he wants his family members to be jailed as dictated by the new alcohol law promulgated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The play directed by Ramesh Talwar also took a shot at Bihar's failing education sector referring to the recent Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) 'ToppersGate' where toppers bought top positions by paying hefty bribe money to top government officials and college principals.

Denying the play was political in nature; Sinha said that all the commentaries were made in good fun and even BJP leaders like Sushma Swaraj and Smriti Irani were not spared by the writer of the play.
