Patna: In yet another example of the collapse of law and order in the state, a group of students living in the notorious Saidpur Hostel shot and seriously injured a Patna College student while also critically injuring another on Wednesday morning.
According to one of the victims Raja Kumar, a resident of Minto Hostel, he, along with his friend Neeraj Kumar, were on their way from one class to another at Patna College when they were ambushed by nearly a dozen students.
The goons then went on to beat up Raja and Neeraj and hit Raja's head with bricks. When Neeraj tried to escape, one of the attackers stuck a gun to his waist and pulled the trigger. Then he shot Neeraj two more times before the attackers ran away from the scene.
Both were rushed to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where Neeraj, a Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) activist, continues to battle for his life. He was visited by JAP President and MP Pappu Yadav who assured him of justice in the assault case.
Neeraj, a Jackson Hostel resident, is a second year student of Political Science while Raja is in the second year History and is a resident of Minto Hostel.
Based on Raja's account, police have taken Ramesh Singh of Makhania Kuan who runs a coaching institute along with three residents of the Saidpur Hostel.
"We are going through the surveillance videos obtained from the area and are hopeful of catching the criminals soon," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
