Patna: Despite reports of cash market settling down in Bihar in the aftermath of sudden demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 bills by the Narendra Modi government, more than 75% of the Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) in Patna was displaying out of order sign in the lack of cash in the cash dispensing machines.
Those that were working on Tuesday had long queue ahead of them with cash-strapped customers waiting for their turn for more than an hour in some cases. Even these ATMs, due to heavy dispensation of cash, were running out of money in a matter of hours leaving many customers frustrated.
Bank officials said that they were doing their best to keep the machines replenished but even they did not have enough cash to keep all machines going at the same time in view of the large demand for cash.
"Things have definitely become better in the last 2-3 days but it will take at least another week before things will get back to normal," said a Bank of Baroda official on Frazer Road.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
