Patna: Former Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, at a press conference in Patna on Friday, mocked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for spending all his time in patting his own back for imposing prohibition in the state.

"It is ironical that the Chief Minister is portraying himself as someone who has saved the humanity by banning alcohol in the state and yet, he refuses to take any action against his own party leaders or officials who have been found breaking the liquor laws of the state," Manjhi, a one-time ardent disciple of Nitish Kumar, said.

Giving examples of JD-U leader Lallan Bhuiyan, Nalanda JD-U leader Indrajit Sen who was arrested and released soon after excise officials recovered 168 bottles of alcohol from his house; Barhaiya legislator Shyam Bahadur Singh who was seen beating up cops while being under the influence of alcohol, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Anuj Rai who was found hiding more than 2000 bottles of alcohol in his brick kiln, the former Chief Minister said that Nitish Kumar remained exposed when it came to the implementation of tough prohibition rules.

It may be recalled that only a day ago, former Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi had made similar allegations against the Chief Minister saying the prohibition rules did not apply to the members of the Grand Alliance and that exposed him as a hypocrite on alcohol issue.
