Patna: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi, during his weekly 'Janata Durbar' in Patna on Tuesday, slammed the Nitish administration for destroying education in Bihar in the wake of a series of scandals that have tarnished the image of the state while leaving the Chief Minister in a very embarrassing situation.
Demanding a full CBI enquiry into the Bihar Staff Selection Commission's (BSSC) paper leak scandal that resulted in the arrest of its Secretary Parmeshwar Ram just a few days ago, Modi said that top government officials and ministers were said to be involved in the scam and only an independent probe by the nation's top investigative agency could bring the truth to the front.
Anticipating resistance for such an enquiry by the ruling party leaders, the BJP leader said that if Vyapam Scam could be investigated by the CBI, there was no reason it could not also probe the paper leak scam.
Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ruled out a CBI probe into the leak scam saying the state was capable of conducting a free and unbiased enquiry and therefore, there was no need to involve CBI into it.
Modi also criticized Kumar for banning media from the test centers saying this was done to cover inappropriate actions, like cheating, during the exams.
As recalled, shortly after the paper leak scandal surfaced of February 5, Kumar announced the cancellation of BSSC exams to avoid further criticism of his administration.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
