Patna: Following the conclusion of the Patna Book Fair at the Gandhi Maidan on Tuesday, artists from 13 states and 120 students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) gifted their 144-sq. ft. painting to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence on Wednesday.
Designed at the Book Fair depicting Kumar's 'Seven Resolves' to put Bihar on the map of developed states, the painting of Lord Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree was prepared jointly by the students and some well-known artists including Padmashree recipient Baua Devi.
The colossal art work incorporates artwork representing different schools of art including Madhubani painting, Santhali art, Patt Chitra genre of Orissa, Lippon of Gujarat, Gond style of Madhya Pradesh, Warli of Maharashtra, and Padh of Rajasthan.
Visibly pleased by the grand gesture of the Art Investment Company (AIC) that sponsored the project, Kumar directed the officials to put up the painting at a conspicuous place for people to enjoy it.
AIC officials said two more paintings were being planned to be put up at the Buddha Smriti Park and Rajdhani Vatika in Patna.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
