Patna: After playing the bride's maid to its better-recognized sister Patna College for over four decades, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, the sole commerce college under Patna University, is all set to have its own building if all goes well and the plan does not become a victim of the red tape and corruption that the education in Bihar is famous for.
Patna University Vice Chancellor Ras Bihari Prasad Singh on Monday laid the foundation stone of the new campus of Vanijya Mahavidyalaya that had been operating from a three-storied dilapidated building next to the main building of Patna College by the bank of the Ganga river since it was carved out of Patna College as a constituent college in 197.
Singh laid the foundation stone of the new campus following a religious ceremony performed by a priest at a land in Saidpur area. The college will become functional from academic session 2018-19, he said.
The new college will operate from a modern four-storied building for which Rs. 3 crore has been sanctioned by the Rashtriya Uchchtar Shikhsha Abhiyan (RUSA). It also will have an administrative building, a cafeteria, a common room, and a living facility for the college Principal.
Vanijya Mahavidyalaya Principal B N Pandey, PU Professor Dolly Sinha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators Arun Kumar Sinha, Nawal Kishore Yadav and Janata Dal – U legislators Neeraj Kumar and Sanjeev Chaurasia, along with several college and university officials were present on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
