Patna: Criminals in Patna under Kankarbagh police station on Friday snatched a gold chain at gun point from the wife of former Bihar minister Mithilesh Kumar Singh.
The mugging took place shortly after 6:00 am Friday when Suprabha Singh and her neighbor and retired IAS officer J S Tiwari's wife were on their way to the nearby park for their morning walk
Three men on a motorcycle pulled next to the couple and stuck a pistol on Mrs. Singh's head before snatching the gold chain from her neck. The three men then fled on their motorcycle but not before they were captured on a security camera in the area.
An FIR was lodged with the Kankarbagh police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said the police have retained the surveillance image of the criminals who, he said, would be nabbed soon.
Singh was a minister in the Ram Sundar Das government in the late '70s and early '80s.
Officials said the same gang of three men tried to rob another woman of her valuables earlier at around 5:00 am in Shri Krishna Nagar though their efforts were thwarted by the woman who started to scream for help forcing the criminals to retreat.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
