Patna: After reportedly being ignored by the Patna University in the list of luminaries invited to attend the 100th anniversary of the institution with the main attraction being Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday said 'enough was enough' with his continued mistreatment by other party leaders who fail to give him the due respect that he rightly deserves.

Speaking in Patna on Thursday, Sinha said that he was hurt by the university's decision to not include him in the list of guests to attend the university's 100th anniversary celebration this Saturday when a number of famous former PU students would be sharing the dais with the Prime Minister.

"Enough is enough! I am a former PU student and the PU comes within the constituency that has repeatedly sent me to the Parliament to represent them. Because of my disagreement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I have been blackballed by the officials who egregiously decided not to invite me to a function that honors my university," the MP from Patna Saheb said.

Sinha also took the university to task for not inviting another BJP leader and alumnus of PU Yashwant Sinha who has been railing against the Modi government at the Center for the past few weeks causing much dissent within the party with most in the cabinet pressing for his expulsion from the BJP.

"Yashwant Sinha, a stalwart in the Indian politics, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav, also a PU graduate, have also not been invited simply because they are opposed to Prime Minister Modi," he said.

PU Vice Chancellor Ras Bihari Prasad Singh, however, denied having excluded both Sinhas and Yadav from the invitation list saying it was the Prime Minister's office that approved the final list of the guests to share dais with the Prime Minister.

Sinha also dubbed PM's visit as a mere formality that would have no impact on the future of the university that once was regarded as the 'Oxford of the East'.

This entire centenary celebration is tame in terms of its impact on the university. The Prime Minister, during his visit to the PU, should offer a plan to restore the lost glory of the university, he said.

"My name is missing from all ads and other publicity material. Is this the way to treat a senior party leader? Enough is enough," Sinha said.

The former star of hundreds of movies also gave a tongue lashing to his own party leaders for trying to sweep allegations of corruption against BJP President Amit Shah's son Jay Shah saying the charges against him warranted a full investigation.

"Why try to suppress the charges when there are serious allegations against Amit Shah's son? Let's have a full investigation so truth could prevail," he said.
