Patna: Kankarbagh police in Patna on Wednesday arrested nine men and seized 150 bottles of foreign liquors from their possession along with two cars that were used to make home deliveries to customers in the state capital.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Kankarbagh police station in-charge Ravi Bhushan raided a place on Road Number of 2 of Indra Nagar.
Police found 150 bottles of foreign liquor from one of the homes leading to the arrests of Sagar Kumar of East Indira Nagar, Nalanda native Rajnish Pandey, Samir Kumar of Jaganpura, Chandan Kumar of Qadirganj, Kamal Kishore of Rajiv Nagar, Kankarbagh residence Rishi Kumar, Chiraiyan Tand resident Karan Sinha, and Jehanabad residents Dheeraj Kumar and Rahul Kumar.
One of the cars seized during today's raid is a black Honda with a Government of India tag in front of it.
The car is registered in the name of one Pawan Kumar Singh whose brother is said to be an Excise officer.
"With a Government of India tag that was obviously fake, the smugglers were delivering liquor to the buyers right under the nose of the law enforcement officials. However, an anonymous tip led to today's raid and arrests of nine persons in the case. All these men will be interrogated by the police and that could lead to more arrests in the coming days," senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
