Patna: Pappu Yadav, the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) leader who has waged a war against the doctors and hospitals in Bihar claiming the system was rigged in favor of the medical fraternity, on Wednesday said that the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bihar unit, was in the business of protecting quacks and fake doctors who are willing to pay the asking price to them.

Yadav, an MP from Madhepura, speaking at a press conference in Patna, said that the IMA must release a list of hospitals in Bihar where poor people could get treatment for free. He also claimed there were more than a thousand fake nursing homes in the state capital that should be shut down and driven out of business immediately.

Advocating free medical treatment to road accident victims on the pattern of Delhi, the JAP leader said that the private nursing homes in Bihar should also provide free treatment to 30% of those living below the poverty line.

In a takedown of Janata Dal – U spokesperson Ajay Alok who owns the Udayan Hospital in Patna, Pappu Yadav said that this was a great example of a fake hospital that did not have pollution or trash certification that are required by law for any medical facility.

"Until he is able to obtain these certificates, the hospital should be shut down," he said.

As reported, Yadav had issued open threats to doctors to 'mend their ways' or prepare for dire consequences forcing the IMA to hold a meeting in which they decided to seek protection from Yadav and his army of goons.

With his prolific background in the world of crime before he became an MP, many medical professionals have accused the JAP leader of trying to revive the extortion business that flourished during the infamous 'jungle raj' under Lalu-Rabri regime in the '90s.
