Patna: In what has become quite a routine thing in Patna, a 20-year old college girl was killed instantly when her scooty was hit by an oncoming speeding bus near Aneesabad roundabout on Thursday evening.
The accident occurred when Aditi Priya, a BA Part I student of Magadh Mahila College, was returning to her home in Ganga Vihar Colony under Beur police station after attending a coaching institute in Chitkohra.
At the time, a friend of Aditi was also riding with her. As she approached Aneesabad roundabout, she also picked up her father Ashok Sharma who was walking towards their home. However, as the fate would be, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the scooty throwing all of its occupants on the ground. As Aditi's friend and father tried to recover from their shock in spite of their serious injuries, Aditi fell under the large wheels of the speeding truck and was crushed to death instantly.
The bus driver, in his attempt to escape, hit a number of other vehicles and parked motorcycles before abandoning the bus and disappearing in the crowd.
As always, an angry mob, demanding immediate arrest of the driver, went on a rampage damaging the truck in question and other vehicles in the area.
The father of the victim and the friend were taken to the hospital where they were listed in serious condition.
Aditi is survived by her injured father, mother Neetu Devi, and an elder brother who studies in Delhi. Her father is the owner of a medical store in Aneesabad named Aditi Medical Store.
Police have seized the truck and are trying to identify its owner and the driver.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
