One is filled with disdain that this is happening in India after 60 years of Independence. All the cries about "we are one", "national and emotional integrity is our mission..." and all that have not taken roots. As a matter of fact this has weakened. This is more sorrowful when one thinks that it is being committed by those who were born in free India. Unfortunately such things happen to Biharis and Up-wallas - from far east to far west, from Assam to Maharashtra and Gujarat... and where not.
I find most of you operate from Patna and manufacture some news. Some headlines are not only useless but harmful too, as it provides unnecessary publicity to some persons and incidents that must just get ignored. How does a headline such as ‘Bihar’s love guru has a message for Thackeray’, serve any purpose? And is it true that ’Nalanda may turn Singur for Nitish’? Is the story about the row over Mauritius PM’s caste true?
A year back I had written about the regionalism in India against core Hindi-speaking people of India specially Biharis.
Almost a year later the situation remains same because the socio political stand of the republic of India still stays unchanged or worsened against Hindi-speaking Indians (now on, the so called elite north Indians from UP are included in this list too).
Starting from economic policy, which were inherently detrimental to heartland interest, planners and federal administration has been in the grip of regionalist interest all along ever since this country got its independence. Do as they wish, but the entire act will go into destroying the country which was born out of shared vision of the leadership of this great land at the time of independence. True, heartland enjoyed disproportionate political power, but this came at the cost of great economic sacrifices.
He is a child in politics! So said the honorable Union Railway Minister about the man of the moment who is drawing immense media attention and criticism about his recent fiery outburst fired against the north Indians living in Bombay.
Bihar and Biharis are being bashed for quite sometime now. I remember even in the sixties the then democratically elected governments would shift Civil servants originating from Bihar for Civil servants from another state in India with a view to provide impartiality and honesty in administering. I believe that these qualities are inherent and built over a period of time with experience, not by being born in a particular country or state or a region. Good administration means picking up the right individual who can deliver what he has been assigned to do.
I was already morose with what Raj Thackeray and Tejinder Khanna are trying to do in Maharashtra and Delhi. But news yesterday on small screen of a reputed channel and today in print shocked me. The old practice in Bihar that I know was to donate the land for the purpose of construction of temples and schools. My own family did the same in small way. But today the people of Nalanda created history by mud slinging on their Chief Minister.
Off late there has been news of some concerted efforts being made by the state administration led by Mr Nitish Kumar and ably supported by Mr. Sushil Kumar Modi to revive the state economically. To top it all, the central ministers from Bihar, specifically Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan and also Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, have also added their might to see state advance in the right direction.
Be it Raj Thackeray issue of arrest or Mayawati’s open loot, the Congress party is indecisive, as it doesn’t have any more any ideology. Political advantages decide the policy and more so action.
What happened and still happening in Mumbai is a sheer matter of shame and an example of week governance, worst level of politics. Not a single person with little sanity left would tolerate this all. And strange to this all is the matter that our central government has kept mum for past 4 days of this continuous ongoing onslaughts over people from Bihar and UP.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan an icon of Indian Cinema was participating in a function organized by the grandson of Mr. Bal Thackeray (a former Marathi Fire-Cracker) and saying that whenever I visited “Matoshree” (Bal Thackeray Residence) I felt like in my home.
Raj Thackeray’s statement on holy festival “chhath” proves that he deserves a place in mental asylum and not in Indian politics. He calls himself a leader but sorry to say he is not even a true Indian citizen and I doubt even a single person will support his self-centered and politically motivated views.
What is Bird Flu: Avian influenza or bird flu is an infection caused by avian (bird) influenza (flu) viruses. Wild birds worldwide carry these influenza viruses in their intestines, but usually do not get sick from them. However, avian influenza is very contagious among birds and can make some domesticated birds, including chickens, ducks, and turkeys, very sick and kill them.
