Protestors in Dariyapur area in Patna on Tuesday riot over water shortage in their area.Protestors in Dariyapur area in Patna on Tuesday riot over water shortage in their area.Patna: For the second day in a row, hundreds of angry people in Dariyapur in Patna on Tuesday, still struggling to find drinking water in their area, took out their frustration on police and private vehicles demanding restoration of water supply immediately or face their wrath.

The protestors demanding immediate restoration of water in Dariyapur and Langartoli areas, burnt tires on the road and pelted rocks, stones, and other objects on both police and private vehicles damaging a number of cars

The mob even beat up a few pedestrians who came in their way.

Alarmed by the gravity of the situation, authorities dispatched anti-riot vehicle and cordoned the area between Dariyapur and Khaitan Market to prevent vehicles from entering into the mini battle zone.

Thing were finally brought under control after Patna District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Kumar Jain, and other senior officials negotiated with them and promised to get water supply restored by evening.

At least half a dozen people were hurt in the melee though their injuries were said to be not serious, police said.
