Opposition leaders in Bihar on Thursday, on the eve of the opening of the 40-day Assembly session, held a party summit led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi at the state Assembly meeting hall to strategize on cornering the ruling parties saying insults hurled on opposition leaders would not be tolerated any more.

Indicating a replay of the last Assembly session that was marred with frequent disruption, bickering, accusation and counter-accusation, the RJD leaders said the Nitish government was completely in the clutches of the bureaucrats who had no intention of listening to the issues of the Panchayat or people representatives.

"They are being insulted and ignored. We will not allow them to crush the voice of the opposition which is what the NDA government is trying to do," said an RJD leader.

The leaders also lashed out at the Nitish administration for failing to alleviate Bihar's chronic power woes.

"Big industries are stealing away a major chunk of the electricity available to Bihar causing statewide power shortage to a degree never experienced before," Ramchandra Purbey said notwithstanding the fact that there are no 'big industries' in Bihar.

Among issues to be raised in the Assembly includes 'complete collapse of law and order in the state', rise in corruption cases, and failure to implement Public Distribution System in the state, said the opposition leaders.

Beside Rabri Devi, the meeting was attended by Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Bheem Singh, LJP leaders Maheshwar Prasad Singh, and some Communist Party of India legislators.

On the opening day, Governor R. S. Gavai will address the two houses of the Assembly. Then on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi will present the new budget while discussion on the budget would begin on the last day of the month.

Meanwhile, security was beefed up around the Assembly Bhawan to prevent any untoward incident from taking place.
