Birth Anniversary of Sant Ravidas Celebrated

People in Patna on Thursday celebrated the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, the 14th century social reformer, by holding a number of events while promising to follow on the path of his preaching including end discrimination based on one's caste or class.
At Ravidas Ashram on Bailey Road, Bihar State Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhary said that Ravidas was centuries ahead of his time when he professed uplifting of people from underprivileged section of the society by peaceful means.
The function was also attended by Congress state president Sadanand Singh, former Central Minister Sanjay Paswan, among others.
In another function organized at the Mahavir Temple outside Patna Junction, retired Justice Premshankar Sahay said a cultured society could be developed only by following up on the guidance of Sant Ravidas.
Former Home Secretary Jia Lal Arya, former Vice Chancellor Dr. S. N. P. Sinha and others participated in the event.
