IGIMS to have Medical and Nursing Schools
Patna: February 21, 2008
Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhary, during the foundation day celebration of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna on Thursday, lauded the institute's role in Bihar's health care and medical arena saying by assuming the role of a leader, the IGIMS was raising the bar higher for other medical facilities in the state.
"The state government is committed for the development of the IGIMS and has taken several steps to improve its standard. Soon a medical and nursing school would be set up within the IGIMS to impart quality medical education for the people of Bihar," Chowdhary said.
The Speaker also distributed prizes to the winners of various sporting events, talent and debate competitions.
Bihar Health Minister Chandramohan Rai said the government has earmarked Rs. 18 crore for setting up the aforementioned medical and nursing school and modernization of its equipment so people of Bihar do not have to go out of state to receive quality medical education.
BJP leaders Nitin Navin, Ganga Prasad and IGIMS director Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh also spoke on the occasion.
