Farmers Protest in Patna. Photo by Shashi UttamBihar farmers in Patna on Saturday organized a protest rally against the state and Central governments to mark the 28th anniversary of the formation of Bihar State Kisan Sabha under the banner of Communist Party of India.

With sit-outs organized at district headquarters, the farmers marched past various streets of the state capital while chanting anti-NDA and anti-UPA slogans. At R-Block, the rally took the shape of a public discourse in which activists pressed for their 11-point demands.

"Our lands are being grabbed by the government in the name of progress and despite the dependence on agriculture by more than 75% of the nation's population, the government has no plan for improving the conditions of the farmers," said Rajendra Patel, the secretary of the Kisan Sabha.
