Rabri Devi Apologizes for Assembly Antics
Patna: February 23, 2008
After an embarrassing display of behavior in Bihar Assembly on Friday, the leader of the Opposition and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi on Saturday, in a damage control mode, apologized to the Governor on behalf of all opposition leaders while saying their anger was not directed towards the Governor but towards his speech that failed to include some burning issues concerning the people of Bihar.
"If the actions of the opposition leaders had in any way hurt the feelings of the Governor then I am very sorry for that and apologize to the Governor on their behalf. Some of the leaders got carried away when the Governor failed to highlight the failure of the ruling NDA government," the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader said.
The former Chief Minister said that Governor R. S. Gavai was a very respectable man and everyone had a lot of respect for him.
As reported earlier, RJD leaders, on the opening day of the budget session of the Bihar Assembly on Friday, disrupted the Governor's speech by presenting a speech of their own drowning the Governor's voice in noise.
