CM Blames Congress for Maharashtra Failure

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while attending the alumni meet of the Patna Science College on Sunday blamed the Congress Party for failing to curb violence against Biharis in Maharashtra saying despite his appeal to his Maharashtra counterpart, nothing had been done to provide security to people from North India.
"Cannot expect much from them. Both Maharashtra and the Center is ruled by the Congress so naturally violence against Biharis and other North Indian in Maharashtra was ignored by their leaders," Kumar said.
Without mentioning the name of Maharashtra separatist leader Raj Thackeray, the Chief Minister said people like him were a minority in Maharashtra just like those who tried to ambush Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai at the State Assembly last Friday just because he was a Marathi were in Bihar.
"These people are dying for publicity and can go very low to remain in the media. The best thing is to ignore them because they tend to act as impediments in the path of progress and development," said Kumar.
The Chief Minister also advocated the granting of Central University status to Patna University saying if any university in India deserved the status of the Central University it had to be Patna University.
"Shunning all political differences, all leaders from Bihar should put pressure on the UPA government to get the Central University status for Patna University," he said.
Kumar also approved a proposal of Rs. 1 crore for the development of the Science College campus and renovation of the gymnasium.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who, like the Chief Minister, is also a graduate of Patna Science College, said that the number of students going to Bangalore or Mumbai for education has dropped in the last year.
Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Central Minister Akhilesh Prasad Singh also attended the meet.
Earlier, the Chief Minister honored Padmashree recipients Dr. Chandeshwar Prasad Thakur, Dr. Gopal Prasad Sinha, Dr. Shyam Narayan Arya, and Dr. Indu Bhushan Sinha.
Many other Patna physicians including Dr. Dilip Sen, DR. B. C. Srivastava, Dr. B. K. Singh, Dr. R. P. Sinha, Dr. D. Mandal, Dr. Narendra Prasad, Dr. Chandreshwar Prasad Thakur, Dr. J. N. Chatterjee, Dr. A. K. Bannerjee, Dr. Shivnandan Prasad, Dr. Ramraj Prasad, and R. R. N. Prasad were also honored at the event.
