A number of senior officials including the chief secretary of the Governor, Rotary office holders, and Red Cross staff also donated blood while urging others to step forward and give the gift of life that never quits giving.

Dr. Vinay Bahadur Sinha, the Red Cross Blood Bank president, said those between the age of 18 and 60 with normal health could donate an unit of blood without any negative impact on the body and this process could be repeated every three months to prevent the stock of blood from depleting.

"This is one gift that could make a difference between life and death for many patients in the need of right type of blood. However, people are hesitant in donating their blood despite no risk involved in it," Dr. Sinha said.
