Lord Shiva will punish the UPA Government: Shahnawaz

Patna: July 8, 2008

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain, at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, blasted the UPA government over the Amarnath Shrine controversy saying by 'insulting Lord Shiva and taking away land from Him', the UPA government would pay the price by losing the General Election by a landslide.

"Just as they (the UPA constituents) have grabbed the land that belonged to Lord Shiva, God will punish them by taking away power from them," Hussain said.

"BJP does not believe in horse-trading just to remain in power as the Congress is doing right now. We would rather go for a fresh election than shun our self-respect and dignity to continue to occupy power," the MP said.

Ridiculing Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's assertion that the BJP was 'dying' to grab power, Hussain said the reality was in fact just opposite of it.

"With power clearly slipping away from their hands, Lalu Prasad Yadav is getting nervous and making statements that only undermine his credibility. This is the man who brought back 'lantern-age' to Bihar and now he is talking about 'doing anything' to solve power crisis in the state," the BJP leader said.
