Ambulance Driver Found Dead in Gardanibagh
Patna: July 9, 2008
The police in Patna on Wednesday morning recovered the body of a 25-year old man private ambulance driver from the Gardanibagh railway crossing once again sending a chill among the residents of Western Patna who are yet to recover from the shock of the grisly carnage last week in Sheikhpura and the recovery of a body from a cold storage tank on Tuesday.
Anguished family members of the victim who was identified as Ranjit Kumar lodged a case of murder refuting the police's assertion that Kumar was a victim of a unfortunate train accident.
According to the police reports, Ranjit had recently returned from jail for engaging in criminal activities under Pirbahore police station and had a history of getting drunk with his friends and relatives.
On Tuesday night, after drinking heavily with his brother-in-law in Saristabad under Gardanibagh police station, Ranjit left for his home.
His body was later recovered by his family members who, instead of informing the police, carried the body home and then called the police insisting Ranjit was the victim of a foul play.
Officials are investigating the case from various angles.
