Lalu Visits Phulwari Carnage Area
Patna: July 9, 2008
The Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday, during his visit to Mohammedpur in Phulwarisharif where five people were clubbed to death last Sunday night, blasted the Nitish administration saying the Chief Minister had pretty much washed his hands from fighting crime in Bihar and had let the criminals take over the entire state.
"Since the NDA has come into power, it has been nothing but a series of murders and carnages in Bihar. Everyday innocent people, old and young; men and women are being killed but Nitish Kumar is busy in his Janata Durbar harping on his so-called good governance while the law enforcement officials are looking the other way," the RJD chief said.
Accompanied by RJD leaders Shyam Rajak and Ram Kripal Yadav, the Railway Minister first went to the late Bhola Singh's house and condemned the heinous crime that left three members of the family dead. He assured the surviving members of the family of providing jobs to them in the Indian Railways.
"We need a permanent police outpost here and I would personally take up this matter with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar," Yadav said.
Later, the Railway Minister's entourage went to Babuchak village where he met with the family members of two milkmen who were also killed on the same night when Bhola Singh, his wife, and grandson were murdered.
Upon his return, Yadav then went to the house of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) secretary S. M. Alam whre he and his wife were bludgeoned to death on July 2.
Demanding a CBI probe into Alam's killing, Yadav said he would himself talk to the Home Minister to initiate a CBI enquiry into the case if the Chief Minister failed to do so.
