Backward Muslims Protest Government's Decision
Patna: July 11, 2008
Members of the Dalit Backward Muslim Morcha, at a press conference in Patna on Friday opposed the inclusion of the Sayyad Malik Muslim in the backward category 2 saying the move was a slap on the face of actual backwards who felt cheated by the government's decision.
Mohammed A. Ali, the national president of the front, told the reporters that Muslims in the backward category had been waiting for years to receive justice from the government but by including the Sayyad Malik Muslims in the backward category 2, the administration had established that it did not have the true interests of the real backward Muslims in heart.
"This move is motivated by political expediency and would only hurt the entire Muslim community," Ali said announcing that on July 20, the Front would organize a massive dharna that would be observed by other Muslim outfits including the National Momin Front and Extremely Backward Pasmanda Society.
