Photo by Anupam SinghThe state government, on Friday, signed a memorandum of understanding with the nation's prominent accounting software company Tally to change the way books are maintained currently in the government offices and to provide accounting training to the government officials as well as local chiefs at Panchayat level.

The agreement was signed by the Information and Technology joint secretary and Beltron Managing Director Alokvardhan Chaturvedi and Tally CEO Avinash Gupta in the presence of Information and Technology Minister Dr. Anil Kumar, Tally VP C. G. Kumar and the chairperson of the Bihar IT Association P. K. Sinha.

Dr. Kumar said the alliance between Tally and Bihar government would provide a favorable environment for technological development and prepare the youths for the competitive world in the 21st century. He further said that an IT convention would be held in Patna later this October that would attract top IT companies and professionals to Bihar.

Similar professional and business ties are expected to be made with software and hardware giants like Microsoft, Intel, and Oracle to prepare Bihar youths for the thriving IT industry, the Minister said.

The so-called 'Knowledge Center' will also start operating at the Lalit Bhawan from October and similar centers would be opened at district level to provide computer knowledge to people in the region, Dr. Kumar said.
