Armed Robbery in Kadam Kuan; Robberies on Boring Canal Road

Armed criminals on Anugrah Narayan Road under Kadam Kuan police station in Patna on early Monday morning invaded the house of businessman Sanjeev Banka and after taking the residents hostage at gun points, got away with cash, jewelries and other valuables totaling more than Rs. 5 lakh.
The crime took place between 4 and 5 am when nearly half a dozen criminals entered the house of Banka by sawing off window grills.
Brandishing weapons, the robbers tied the businessman and locked him in a room while forcing others to open the safe and almirahs as others emptied the house of other valuable items. A female relative, who was visiting the Bankas, was also subjected to humiliating insults of sexual nature, the victims said.
Banka owns a cork factory in Hajipur and had been a victim of similar crimes in the past.
The police have lodged an FIR and has initiated an investigation to identify and arrest the criminals.
In an unrelated incident, burglars under Buddha Colony police station on late Sunday night broke into two shops on East Boring Canal Road and escaped with cash and properties over Rs. 2 lakh.
The crime took place in R. N. Lal and Sons and Navin Opticals.
At both places the burglars cut open the shutters to gain access to the stores, the police said.
No arrest has been made in either case.
