Trust Vote Result does not Matter: Nitish
Patna: July 21, 2008
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while talking to reporters following his Janata Durbar on Monday, said he was not concerned about the outcome of the trust vote in the Parliament since 'the UPA was going to lose big in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections anyway.
"Elections are just around the corner so it does not matter whether the UPA government survives the vote of trust tomorrow or not. The voters would teach the Congress and its allies in the Parliamentary elections and that is all it matters," said the Chief Minister.
"The UPA government is a government of poachers," Kumar said alluding to the allegations of horse-trading by the Congress involving hundreds of crores in hard cash to buy support from unscrupulous MPs of various parties.
Making light of UPA leaders supporting the government on Indo-US proposed nuclear deal, Kumar said that it was astonishing that those who perhaps did not even know what nuclear energy is, have suddenly become experts in the topic.
"The UPA government has lost power and has lost its credibility," the Chief Minister said adding the next election would be fought on issues concerning India, including skyrocketing prices and the Central government's reluctance on helping Bihar develop and grow.
"On one hand it talks about installing nuclear power plants to fight energy crisis, on the other hand it has put a moratorium on producing ethanol in Bihar. This is politics of the lowest level and that is what is going to be our electoral manifesto in the next Lok Sabha polls," he said.
