Supporters of the Congress-led UPA government, in Patna on Tuesday, celebrated the victory of the Manmohan cabinet by lighting firecrackers and exchanging sweets while also declaring the win as a referendum on the proposed nuclear pact with the United States.
"It is clear that the people of India favor the nuclear pact and the UPA is firmly in the saddle to lead the country forward," said INTUC state president C. P. Singh.
Tulsi Singh, the Samajwadi Party leader, while expressing his glee over the result of the trust vote, said it was a huge victory for SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amar Singh, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.
RJD youth wing activists, meanwhile, lighted firecrackers at Dak Bungalow crossing to celebrate the Tuesday victory and called the BJP charges of horse-trading shameful.
The so-called Rahul Gandhi Brigade, on the other hand, placed 'chadar' on the tomb of Hazrat Shaheed Safdarshah Rahmatullah near Patna High Court for 'saving' the UPA government.
