Sugar Mill in Motihari by Next Year; Says Minister. Photo by Anupam SinghRashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Union Consumers and Public Distribution Minister Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, at a press conference in Patna on Monday, said a new sugar mill would be set up in Motihari that, besides generating employment in the region, would also help resolve power crisis in the district.

Singh said the mill, to be established by the Dunlop Group, would start operating within a year and for this land and financing had already been arranged.

"On June 10, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav would perform the ground-breaking ceremony in Sariyatpur in the presence of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Dunlop senior official Pawan Ruiya," said the minister.

The mill would have a full production capacity of 10,000 TCD (Tons of Canes per Day) along with an ability produce 50 MW of electricity that would be able to light the entire Motihari district, he said.
