Corruption Never so Rampant; Say NCP Leaders
Patna: June 3, 2008
The students' wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday, to further their political agenda, burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar calling the NDA government in Bihar the 'the most corrupt ever', a charge shrugged off by Kumar's supporters as 'the losers' lament'.
"Since coming into power nearly two and a half years ago, the NDA administration has broken all previous records of bureaucratic corruption that is rampant in all government departments. Top officials are busy filling their own personal coffers while all the development plans have been rigged in favor of the corrupt ministers and officers," said the state president Dinesh Patel.
NDA leaders, on the other hand, lashed out at the NCP calling it a party of opportunist who were only looking for their own interests and were frustrated by the fact that the Chief Minister, with his good governance policy, had made it extremely difficult for them to survive in a clean environment.
"These leaders were used to thrive in the corrupt RJD government and now that they have been rendered useless in the Nitish government, they are talking about honesty and transparency in the administration," said Vinod Anand, a JD-U activist.
