BJP MLAs Summoned to Delhi to Determine Modi's Fate

Photo by Shashi UttamThe Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has summoned all 69 party legislators in Bihar to New Delhi on June 8 to discuss the fate of embattled Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who is under the crosshair of many rebel leaders following the massive reshuffle in the cabinet that prematurely ended many ministers' dream of prolonged power.

While over two dozen disgruntled BJP leaders are already camping in New Delhi in the hope of pursuing the powers that be to dump Modi in favor of a more 'approachable' leader, others who are sitting on the fence on this issue are expected to offer a different view with most coming to the defense of the Deputy Chief Minister, insiders in the party said.

Those who have an axe to grind against Modi have threatened to resign from the party if Modi is not resigned from the Cabinet.

Earlier party state president Radha Mohan Singh held a meeting with several party leaders including Nand Kishore Yadav and Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Kalraj Mishra, Hriday Nath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, and Venkaiyyah Naidu at his residence in New Delhi during which the rebel leaders continued to press for their demand for removal of Modi.

Radha Mohan Singh also later met with senior party leader Lal Krishna Advani to apprise him of Bihar imbroglio following which the decision to hold a vote of confidence to determine the fate of Modi.
