Boy Killed in Bomb Explosion in Gopalganj

Patna: June 5, 2008

A 12-year old child was killed and another 10-year old seriously injured when a powerful bomb exploded at the Hajiapur locality in Gopalganj on early Thursday morning as the children tried to pick up a plastic bag containing crude bombs possibly abandoned by criminals in a pile of garbage, police in Gopalganj said.

The explosion was so powerful that it blew the boy who was identified as Nasiruddin, the son of Bahora Tola resident Mohammed Alimuddin, into pieces while grievously injuring 10-year old Ashu, the son of Rabuddin.

Rabuddin was rushed to a hospital where he lies in serious condition.

One live bomb was recovered from the blast site, Superintendent of Police (SP) Amrit Raj said.

The police are investigating the case.
