Employees' Strike Disrupt Functioning at PU

Patna: June 7, 2008

Employees' Strike Disrupt Functioning at PU. Photo by Anupam SinghPatna University (PU) Employees Union president Ram Jatan Sinha, at a press conference in Patna on Saturday, blamed Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Shyam Lal for the ongoing strike saying the VC was unable to take any critical decision on his own and was being influenced by other officials who did not have the employees' interest in their heart.

"This strike could have been avoided had the VC used good judgment but instead he preferred to listen to those who have no inkling as to the functioning of the university," Sinha said adding the VC had no intention to hold convocation this year as was evident by his continued dilly-dallying on the issue.

Meanwhile, the strike's effect could be seen at various colleges on Saturday as all offices remained deserted with only a few senior officers showing up for work.

Outside the PU office, the agitating employees protested anti-administration slogans and vowed to continue their strike until all of their demands were met.
