The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna on Wednesday celebrated his 61st birthday in the presence of his wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and other well-wishers.
Dozens of Yadav's supporters who gathered at his residence brought him a gigantic cake shaped like the Gareeb Rath in recognition of the Railway Minister's introduction of the popular air-conditioned train that offers travel in style to people with less-privileged background.
The event was also marked by feeding hundreds of people who started to arrive at his house quite early to gain entry into the premises.
While Rabri Devi offered a red rose to her husband, others brought gifts for their leader who sat on a chair and accepted their wishes graciously.
Several party leaders including Ram Kripal Yadav (MP) also took part in a cleaning drive to mark the Railway Minister's 61st birthday. The gesture, however, was mostly symbolic and had nothing to do with any actual cleaning work as the leaders, carrying brooms, swept the same spot offering photographers to catch the moment.
