Phalguni Yadav Resigns from Bihar Legislature

Patna: June 15, 2008

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Phalguni Prasad Yadav, in a letter sent to party state president Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday, tendered his resignation from the state legislature in the aftermath of his row with Janata Dal (U) leader and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Narendra Singh in Jamui on May 28.

"Apparently political coalitions these days are meant to insult and physically abuse your colleagues. I cannot continue to go on when such infractions are ignored by the party leaders and the offenders go scot free," Yadav wrote in his letter, sources said.

The BJP legislator also mentioned his dedication to the party from the Jan Sangh days describing himself as a dedicated soldier of the BJP while painting Singh as a 'master party-changer'.

Accusing the NDA government of conspiring against him, Yadav in his letter went on to lash the doctors at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) who, they said, gave out wrong report on his injury caused during the Jamui incident.

Earlier, Yadav filed an FIR against Singh and his legislator son Ajay Singh claiming the attack on him was intentional and 'murderous'. He also complained of someone stealing Rs. 5,000 from his pocket and snatching a golden chain from his that he was wearing during the scuffle that left him with a broken leg and chest injuries.

Singh has denied the allegations maintaining the shove was unintentional and there was no merit to the case.
