PMCH Jr. Doctors Back on Strike

Patna: June 16, 2008

Continuing to treat the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) as their own personal playground where they could come and go as they please, the junior doctors once again went on an indefinite strike on Monday in an attempt to force the government to surrender to their demands.

Using their oft-used weapon, besides engaging in frequent acts of violence, the junior doctors went back on strike saying the government had failed to meet their 72 hours ultimatum to withdraw cases against their 11 colleagues 'leaving them with no choice but to resume their agitation'.

Though PMCH Superintendent Dr. O. P. Chowdhary tried to keep a brave face in the wake of the junior doctor's relentless arm-twisting tactics, the reality was anything but satisfactory as patients, once again, started to pack their belongings to look for other facilities that had no effect of the strike.

Meanwhile, the Nitish administration, known for its lack of decisiveness when it comes to dealing with rogue students, remained a moot spectator in the ongoing junior doctors' saga refusing to deal with the situation that has become the hallmark of the PMCH..
