Fire at Patna High Court. Photo by Anupam SinghPandemonium ensued at Patna High Court on Friday when an electrical short-circuit sparked a fire in the building causing minor damage to the property though prompt action by the Fire Department kept the flames from spreading.

As reported, a spark caused by electrical short-circuit set some batteries stored in the same room on fire. With smoke bellowing out from the building, lawyers and other people present in the court ran for safety causing a stampede in some parts of the courthouse.

Prompt response by the fire department that dispatched three fire trucks to the courthouse within minutes of the incident prevented the flames from spreading in other parts of the building.

Besides some minor damages to the building caused by the smoke, quick action by the fire officials prevented what could have been a major disaster.

No one was said to be injured in the incident, the police said.
