Sheikhpura BDO Shot Dead in his Home

Criminals in Rajapuram area near Station Chowk in Sheikhpura district on Sunday evening shot and killed the Ariyari Block Development Officer (BDO) Arvind Kumar Mishra at his rented apartment, officials in Sheikhpura said.
Acting District Magistrate of Sheikhpura Suresh Chandra Sinha said people in neighborhood, after hearing the sound of a gunshot, informed the police who, upon arrival found Mishra dead in his bedroom.
A 9mm pistol was recovered from the bedroom raising speculation of suicide though the police said the gun could have been planted by the criminals to throw the investigators off the track.
Mishra apparently died of a gunshot on his forehead.
Forensic experts were summoned to investigate the crime scene in an attempt to find any clue in his killing.
Curiously, Mishra was earlier asked by the Patna High Court to submit a report regarding a case involving irregularities in the hiring of several school teachers in the area.
The police are investigating the case from various angles, Sheikhpura Superintendent of Police (SP) Indranand Mishra said.
