Delhi Firm to Develop Buddha Memorial Park in Patna

Delhi-based Parsvnath Developers Limited on Friday signed a contractual agreement to develop the old Bankipore Jail campus on Frazer Road as the Buddha Memorial Park that would also include a temple with resemblance to Delhi's Akshardham Temple at an estimated cost of Rs. 125 crore.
The project to be spread over an area of nearly 21 acre is expected to be completed in nine months, Parsvnath chairperson Pradeep Jain said.
Chief Secretary City Development and Housing Department S. Jalja, IDAFC official Palash Srivastava, and Parsvnath officials were present at the meeting.
Jain said the memorial park just outside the Patna railway station would include a huge Buddha statue, a meditation hall, a museum, and other amenities for the visitors.
Upon completion, the park is expected draw large crowd because of its proximity with the Patna Junction, officials said.
The project considered to be Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's personal favorite, will be closely monitored at all levels to ensure it is completed on schedule and without any irregularity that marred works done by the Tantia Constructions in Patna, Jalja said.
