Helen Keller's Birth Anniversary Observed

Members of the All India Disabled and Social Development Association in Patna on Friday observed the 128th birth anniversary of Helen Keller while also celebrating the 15th anniversary of the foundation day of Antarjyoti Vidyalaya.
Chief guest R. K. Sinha, in his speech, said in today's age blindness was no excuse for anyone to not grow and learn. "If you desire, you can do anything as exemplified by Helen Keller over a century ago.
The event was sponsored by the Bihar Blind Council, Patna.
Sinha congratulated eight students from the school for securing first division in their matriculation exams and pledged to bear their college expenses.
Statues of Helen Keller and Saint Surdas, the 16th century devotional poet and also blind since birth, would be installed at the school campus to encourage other students with similar disability, Sinha said.
Noted physician and Congress leader Dr. Ashok Kumar, Bihar Blind Council chairperson Dr. Ajit Sinha, Dr. Nirmal Srivastava and a number of other people were present on the occasion.
