Rudy lashes out at Congress, Lalu
Patna: June 27, 2008
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson and newly-elected Member of the Parliament Rajiv Pratap Rudy, first time since joining the Rajya Sabha a couple of days ago, lashed out at the Congress-led UPA government and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav saying both were gasping for their political survival in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Predicting victories for the NDA candidates at all 40 seats in Bihar, Rudy said UPA was headed for a disaster in the next Lok Sabha polls which would also mean the end of the political career of Yadav.
"With prices of essential commodities reaching record-high, the people of India would never forgive the UPA government and its allies including the left parties who chose to side with the Congress and the RJD," said the BJP leader.
Rudy also lashed out at the RJD for fielding a 'non-serious' candidate like Shivshankar Nishad for the Rajya Sabha seat that he was contesting for.
"This was a complete mockery of the Indian democracy. If the RJD really wanted to compete for the seat, it should have fielded a much serious candidate and would have fought for it tooth and nail. Instead, they just tossed Nishad in the fray to cause some inconvenience to us knowing fully well Nishad had absolutely no chance of defeating me," he said.
Ridiculing the railway link between Yadav's village and his wife Rabri Devi's village, Rudy said the Railway Minister was confined between his 'ghar and sasural' while ignoring the wider interests of the people of India.
"There is no surprise there; this is the way the Congress functions and Yadav has learnt to act in the same manner," the MP said.
