Ranchi Police Raids Computer Shop in Lohanipur

Patna: June 28, 2008

A Jharkhand police team in Patna on Saturday raided a computer parts shop in Lohanipur and recovered hardware including motherboards, RAM, CD-R, and DVD players, while also arresting its owner from his home in Pirmohani area, the police in Patna said.

As reported, a computer shop in Ranchi earlier this week was burglarized where the thieves got away with several lakh worth of computer parts and accessories.

During the investigation, the Ranchi police arrested an employee of the shop who led them to Patna where, in cooperation with the Patna police, a raid was conducted in the east Lohanipur shop of Akhilesh Singh.

Singh, while denying his involvement in the Ranchi theft, admitted of buying stolen computer parts at lower than normal market price from certain individuals from Jharkhand.

Attempts are being made to apprehend other members of the inter-state gang of computer parts thieves, police said.
