BJP Legislator Renews his Pledge to Commit Suicide

Patna: June 30, 2008

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Phalguni Prasad Yadav who has launched a one-man campaign to secure the removal of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Narendra Singh from the Bihar cabinet, on Monday renewed his pledge to commit suicide saying he was disappointed with the Chief Minister who he thought was a 'man of honor and justice'.

In a letter written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday, Yadav said Singh was a blotch on the Nitish administration but he was even more disappointed with Kumar himself who, he said, was believed to be a man with a keen sense of justice.

"You may keep your justice and the so-called 'good governance' to yourself. Apparently, I am not going to get justice under your rule so I will go ahead with my plan to self-immolate during the monsoon session of the state Assembly," Yadav wrote in his letter, reports said.

As reported previously, Phalguni Yadav, after being pushed over by Singh at a public event in Jamui on May 28, claimed to have sustained injuries in his legs and pain in his chest describing the incident an attempt on his life.

"They were clearly trying to kill me but somehow I survived the attack. However, despite the lapse of nearly a month, you have failed to take any action against the minister and his henchmen. I cannot go on living like this and would end my life at the beginning of the monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly," Yadav wrote in his letter.
